Brooklands 2007

We set off a little late, as we had to make sure our old Springer was OK for the day.

Grey, and a little drizzly, our route took us over the Forest to Cadnham, then off up the motorways to Chertsey. No dramas there, but at brooklands, we foolishly followed the signs to Brooklands/Mercedes, and ended up cruising round their new impressive building, to find we could not get through. So a quick Uye, and back to the old entrance to join the queue. Phil had done us proud with the location, right in front of the Main building, it was a pity not too many of us turned up. Still, what we lacked in quantity we made up for in quality. Phil with his smart new Cooper, Tim in his multi-red 1275, Norman with his red Cooper, Mike with his Reacing Green, Dave with Toy, and our little 1380. with the gazebo already in place, we soon had the banner and frame on show, and Old Skool Mini Club had started the Season.

Mike and Fiona were there with PSMOC and Nel, and Pete put in an appearance later in the morning.

Although still very early in the year, the weather was not too bad, which seemed to bring the Minis out in their droves. Not so many Traders, but Museum exhibits were still amazing, especially the Wellington Bomber brought up from the bottom of Loch Ness!

The usual manics went up “TheHill”, some a lot faster than others, the quickest seemed to be the yellow 2.0 litre Honda engined Clubby. So a great day for the first meet, and to cap it, Dave won best paint job on the day, which considering the number of cars there, was a fantastic result.

Hope to see more of you Sunday for the run to Weymouth
